Technical Expertise
In order to provide optimum and comprehensive protection for your inventions, far-reaching technical expertise is required in addition to specialist knowledge of industrial property rights protection. In order to provide you with comprehensive and competent advice in both legal and technical affairs, all of our patent attorneys have completed studies in scientific or technological discipline.
Since the founding days of Lorenz & Kollegen, we have been consistently proud to be able to count both mechanical engineering as well as classical engineering science among our core areas of expertise. Thus, we can offer you support in all issues of industrial property rights concerning mechanical engineering, and indeed on the basis of decades-long specialist experience. Thus, classical engineering science is perhaps our firm’s most prominent area of expertise.
Our main focus areas
General mechanics, (electric) power tool machine technology, engine technology, turbine technology, automotive engineering, propulsion technology, forming technology, production and manufacturing technology, materials handling
Our understanding and practical application of raw materials constitute the basic foundations of our technological society. As experts in mechanical engineering and in microelectronics, metals and polymers, as well as semiconductors, figure particularly among the raw materials concerning which we are able to assist you with our far-reaching experience.
Our main focus areas
Metallic raw materials, polymers, semiconductors
Even if optics has not figured among Lorenz & Kollegen’s core areas from the very beginning, this specialist field has grown into one of our firm’s foremost fields of expertise – not least due to our clients, who count among the market leaders in optics and optoelectronics. As a consequence, we are able to provide you with comprehensive, competent advice concerning your entirely specialized topic in the area of optics and optoelectronics.
Our main focus areas:
Optical systems and components, optical measuring technology, quantum optics, lithography, optoelectronics, microscopy
In 1925, Julius Edgar Lilienfeld made the first patent application for a transistor radio – a milestone in electrical engineering. Although we unfortunately had nothing to do with this patent, we are nevertheless able to offer you 20 years of experience in semiconductor technology. During this time, we and our clients experienced the rapid pace of development of computer technology, while we consistently maintained a consultative role on the very cutting edge of development. We are happy to advise you with regard to this fascinating discipline.
Our main focus areas:
Integrated circuits, microsystems technology, semiconductor manufacturing technology, lithography
Medical technology requires interdisciplinary knowledge of a series of subject areas of the engineering sciences. Due, in particular, to our experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, we are able to serve you on the basis of our comprehensive background. Cooperation with colleagues and clients has provided us with a solid basis for the accumulation of extensive specialist knowledge in media technology and/or biomedical technology, with which we can help you along.
Our main focus areas:
Medical instruments, imaging techniques, medical informatics, biomechanics, electromedicine
Lorenz & Kollegen is proud to always occupy a position on the front lines of media and information technology in Germany when it comes to issues involving industrial property rights. Already in the late 1990s, Dr. Werner Lorenz, the founder of our firm, acknowledged that classical mechanical engineering would require a close connection with information technology and electrical engineering. In other words, we had already begun to assemble extensive know-how in information technology 15 years ago, which allows us to guarantee you competent advice today.
Our main focus areas:
Microprocessor technology, software technology, robotics, control and regulation technology, artificial intelligence, database development, distributed systems
Practically none of the classic engineering disciplines can manage today without the contribution of electrical engineering. It is without doubt for this reason that we provide you with advice of an interdisciplinary nature, combining electrical engineering with classical mechanical engineering. Of course, we support with solid advice in questions of pure electrical engineering, especially with regard to circuit technology, microelectronics, connection technology and accumulator technology.
Our main focus areas:
Microelectronics, control and regulation technology, energy technology, accumulator technology, power electronics, communications engineering, high frequency technology, plug connectors
The laws of physics set the parameters for the technologically feasible. Even in the case of inventions that don’t have their origins in one of the special disciplines we have listed, our technical/scientific educational backgrounds, our know-how and our experience in the areas of physics permit us to provide you with comprehensive advice.
Our main focus areas:
physical chemistry, biophysics, polymer physics, physics of condensed matter, quantum physics and quantum technology, thermodynamics, spectroscopic techniques, individual molecule physics, laboratory technology, solid-state physics
